12 & 13 of the Father’s Day asks?

12 – What’s the best memory of your father?

image

———THOUGH ELLIOT’S RELATIONSHIP WITH HIS FATHER WAS MORE THAN TARNISHED, he admired his father in the beginning of their relationship. he wasn’t raised by his father, a man his mother never spoke about until her sickness early into his childhood. growing up in the weimar republic, elliot had little to call his own. his father came into the picture after his mother orchestrated a will and basically blackmailed the married man into taking his illegitimate child. at first elliot thought it was his father’s choice in taking custody of him, something that really helped his self esteem and worth. elliot remembers being spoiled early on, but soon that too fell apart.

he doesn’t really have a good singular memory of his father.

13 – What’s the worst memory of your father?

image

———ELLIOT REMEMBERS THE MAN WHO HE KNEW AS FATHER. the family dynamic was centered around he and his brother, whereas his father and half mother were never truly parents to him. his worst memory of his father came around the time he was thirteen. for jews, this is a very significant age, as it marks ones bar or bat mitzvah, their coming of age if you will. elliot had been experiencing an identity crisis for some time at this point, something his brother alexander helped him through. wanting to present as a man, elliot felt somewhat reluctant to have a bat mitzvah. his father saw this identity crisis as a rebellious defilement of tradition, and beat his child until he was satisfied she understood who she was. there are worse memories, but this one seems to have stuck with elliot longer than any others.

❝ I’m just so sick of straight people who can’t get their shit together. ❞

image

———❝ I’VE LIVED LONGER THAN A GOOD PERCENTILE OF THE WORLD. i’ve yet to see the day when straight people can act right in the presence of a queer. ❞
an accusation that held a bit of weight. it strained and pulled but never sank him, the subject at hand. he’d grown up at at time when people like him were herded into camps and slaughtered en masse. it wasn’t hard to say they’d gotten a little better from there.

❝ don’t let that stop you, it certainly hasn’t stopped me. ❞

ELLIOT’S VOICE

anyways this is an excerpt from Ein spätes Mädchen in which Schweighofer sings 9 Crimes. I chose to pitch it in elliot’s range as his voice is somewhat high and accented.

SPLINTER.

she contemplated that question , MAY it be rhetorical or not , “ i mean … perhaps both ? “ and with finality , swiped her palm over the dead man’s eyes ; shutting his lids once and for all without so much as smearing a drop of blood .

looks like she WON the staring contest

“ … i mean it wasn’t ea—sy . i lost a shoe at some point and got like , eleven splinters in my foot thereafter , but the smell was too STRONG to just ignore , so i followed it all the way up here ! what a pain . the splinters , i mean . got any tweezers ? “

——— OFTEN THE INFERNAL DID NOT GARNER A SENSE OF HUMOR. little by little, he noted the gaps in his understanding of the situation. he’d done this job as instructed by his client, the woman wanting the body displayed from high above as if burnt in effigy. he knew better than to light the fucker on fire, too flashy, too noticeable.

still, it mattered little if his cover was blown so quickly, the girl both a witness and an anomaly.

❝ i can help you, but you’re going to need to come with me. ❞

WHITTAKER.

whittaker mustered a small smile as he gladly welcomed elliot’s embrace. ❛ and you haven’t either, ❜ he retorted. he silently welcomed the warmth and familiarity of his apartment after several days of traveling; he shrugged his peacoat from his shoulders and draped it over the back of a nearby chair. ❛ i am surprised that you’re more interested in how i got here rather than the fact i am here, ❜ he teased. he rolled his shoulders as a casual stretch. ❛ i took an early flight for most of the way, then a night train, then the subway. ❜ it was safe to say that it had been a long couple of days.

his gaze was warm as he turned to face him ( a bit of a rarity ). ❛ did you forget ? you said you’d be coming back around this time. i wanted to see if you’d keep your promise. ❜ he didn’t come because he was anxious to see him again, obviously.

———IT MATTERED LITTLE TO HIM HOW THE MAN ARRIVED. seeing the countless times his friend and companion had waltzed in as bare bones, he knew just how to appreciate his current presence. small miracles reminded him ; he cleared the way for the other to come in, steaming kettle signalling his own end of the promise. like he’d ever forget company?

❝ the u-bahn isn’t what it used to be, but its certainly better than the tube most days. ❞
pouring a cup of tea, the man offered a mug on the off chance whittaker would take it. some of their kind went without eating, but elliot often found it kept his sanity to appreciate a good beverage and meal.

❝ tell me, what brings you to berlin?
